Learn more about the Kerygma and use these resources to dive into this aposotolic proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ so that this foundational message can take root in your own heart.

disicpleship definition.001Disicpleship begins when "adult persons at last have the occasion to hear the kerygma, renew their own baptism, consciously choose Christ as their own personal Lord and Savior and commit themselves actively in the life of their Church."  (Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa:  Christ Yesterday and Today)

The Joy of the Gospel: Evangelii Gaudium

The Joy of the Gospel: Evangelii Gaudium

by Pope Francis

Pope Francis's popular message of hope explores themes that are important for believers in the 21st century. Examining the many obstacles to faith and what can be done to overcome those hurdles, he emphasizes the importance of service to God and all his creation. Advocating for “the homeless, the addicted, refugees, indigenous peoples, the elderly who are increasingly isolated and abandoned,” the Holy Father shows us how to respond to poverty and current economic challenges that affect us locally and globally. Ultimately, Pope Francis demonstrates how to develop a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ, “to recognize the traces of God’s Spirit in events great and small.”

Profound in its insight, yet warm and accessible in its tone, The Joy of the Gospel is a call to action to live a life motivated by divine love and, in turn, to experience heaven on earth.

Sober Intoxication of the Spirit

Sober Intoxication of the Spirit

by Raniero Cantalamessa O.F.M. Cap.

We tend to overlook Peter's opening words to the crowd that first Pentecost morning, to our own peril. His denial of drunkenness in the wake of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit should stop us in our tracks. What was going on here? How did the apostles experience the Holy Spirit? What was he teaching them? How was he empowering them? What does this scene in the streets of Jerusalem mean for us today?

In Sober Intoxication of the Spirit, Fr. Cantalamessa offers pastoral advice and leads the reader through passages of Scripture and the Fathers of the Church to remind us of the incalculable power of the Spirit available to us.
