Strategic Planning for Evangelization | DISCIPLESHIP COMPASS

← Services

There is a moment most parish and diocesan leaders know well. The energy in the room is real. The conversations get animated. Everyone agrees that mission matters — that something needs to change.

And then the decisions freeze.

Not because the people aren't willing. Because the path forward isn't clear — and without someone to walk alongside you in discerning it, the gap between vision and movement stays exactly where it is.

The Discipleship Compass is how we walk with you through that. Not with a prepackaged program. Not with a consulting report that sits on a shelf. With a process of listening, discernment, and accompaniment that produces a plan actually fitted to your community — your culture, your people, your real constraints.

Does this sound familiar?

Mission energy is real, but the decisions keep freezing — staff are willing, conversations get animated, and then nothing changes.
We've written about why that happens →

Or the team looks healthy on the surface — meetings are smooth, everyone is polite — but nothing in the parish is actually moving.
That kind of calm is worth examining →

If either of those resonates, the Compass was built for exactly where you are.

What the Compass Is and What It Isn't

There are hundreds of programs, resources, and series that claim to be the answer for parish evangelization. The reality is that no single resource fits every community. What your parish needs depends on who you are, what God is already doing among you, and what the Spirit is actually inviting you toward.

We've worked with parishes that had existing trained leaders and needed a structure to deploy them. With dioceses that had energy but no plan. With schools where the staff had formation but no shared language for mission. In every case, the Compass looked different — because it had to.

The Compass doesn't hand you a program. It helps you discern a direction — and build the specific plan, team, and culture that can carry it forward in your community, with your people, under your real constraints.

  • Practical ideas that fit your community's personality, culture, and real resources — not a generic rollout borrowed from a larger parish.
  • A culture of intentional discipleship formed relationally — built on accompaniment and real relationships, not programs running in parallel to parish life.
  • A plan that works with a limited budget and limited staff — designed around what you actually have, not what an ideal parish would have.

How the Compass Process Works

Every Compass engagement is different — because every parish is different. But the process follows a consistent shape: we begin by listening, move into discernment and planning, form the leaders who will carry it, and stay with you as implementation begins.

Step 1

Initial Conversation

We begin by listening — for what God is already doing in your community, who is already moving, and what the Spirit seems to be inviting. We've never run the same Compass twice, because no two parishes are the same.

The first question we ask isn't "what program do you need?" It's "who will lead this — and are they ready to accompany, not just teach?" No charge. Up to two hours.

Step 2

Compass Development

Through focused planning conversations, we help your team analyze your current reality honestly, identify where the Holy Spirit seems to be moving, and develop a concrete, phased plan.

Not an overwhelming overhaul – a faithful next step your community can actually take.

Step 3

Formation & Workshops

Tailored formation events and workshops that equip your first wave of intentional disciples.

Each session is built around your Compass goals, not a generic curriculum – focused on the practices that actually form people: accompaniment, proclamation, story, and attentiveness to the Holy Spirit.

Step 4

Ongoing Accompaniment

We don't hand you a plan and disappear. The middle of the journey is where most mission efforts stall.

We provide ongoing check-ins, coaching, and support – helping you measure real fruit, navigate obstacles, and stay anchored in what the mission actually requires.

A note on time: parishes sometimes wonder whether a twelve-month process is necessary. It can be – not because the content takes that long to cover, but because mission is experienced and learned in relationship, not in a classroom. People need time to practice, process, try again, and be accompanied themselves. The goal isn't to finish the curriculum. It's to produce leaders who can sustain this long after we're gone.

Who This Is For

The Compass is for leaders – ordained and lay – who carry real responsibility for the direction of a parish, diocese, or Catholic school, and who sense that something needs to change but aren't sure where to start or how to move the people around them forward.

That typically means:

  • Pastors & Pastoral Teams
  • Parish Staff
  • Parish Pastoral Councils
  • DREs & Faith Formation Directors
  • Evangelization Directors
  • Diocesan Staff
  • Catholic School Principals & Ministry Leaders
  • OCIA & Sacramental Prep Teams

If you are responsible for forming disciples and the gap between where your community is and where you sense God is calling it to go feels stuck – the Compass is for you.
